So liebe Gemeinde,

so kurz vor Ostern möchte ich mich doch mal zu Wort melden. Sicher wundert Ihr Euch, dass wir neue Bands ankündigen wollen und dann nichts passiert.

Ich hatte gestern ein langes Telefonat mit unserem Booker und habe die Ankündigung neuer Bands nochmal stoppen müssen.

In letzter Zeit fällt es mir immer schwerer meine gute Laune und die Lust an der Vorbereitungsarbeit für unser Festival nicht zu verlieren.

Es gibt ja immer mal wieder Probleme bei der Vorbereitung, auf Grund neuer Gesetze, Regeln, Bestimmungen und Auflagen was die Durchführung von Veranstaltungen betrifft.

Diese Probleme lassen sich aber mit den Ämtern vor Ort gut regeln, da man sich ja mittlerweile gut kennt.

Leider wird es aber immer komplizierter sich in einem gesteckten finanziellen Rahmen zu bewegen. Dieser Rahmen wird ja mit den Eintrittsgeldern finanziert.

Ich will jetzt nicht rumheulen, dass alles teurer wird, aber ich frage mich langsam selber, wann man den Bogen überspannt und es für Veranstalter und Besucher unmöglich wird, sich auf einem Festival noch gut zu fühlen und wann das Gefühl kommt, dass man verarscht wird. 

Wir versuchen jedes Jahr ein gutes Festival zu organisieren, wo Ihr am Ende nach Hause fahrt und Euch gern erinnert und gut über unsere Arbeit sprecht.

Es hat der Crew viel gegeben, in der Visions zu lesen, dass wir das beste Festival 2015 der Visions Leser waren. Hier nochmal danke an Euch.

So etwas bestärkt uns dann doch in unserer Arbeit und wir wollen deshalb noch lange weiter machen.

Unsere größten Probleme bekommen wir aber leider immer häufiger beim buchen der Bands. Die Bands bekommen selber in den seltensten Fällen etwas davon mit.

Man hat hier mit Agenten und Manager zu tun, die sich weder für das Festival noch die Szene interessieren. Es geht wie überall nur um maximalen Profit. 

Das überrascht mich nach 16 Jahren nicht wirklich, aber ich habe keine Lust mehr jeden Scheiß mitzumachen bzw. jede absurde Gage zu bezahlen. 

Unser Booker wird im Vorfeld mit Band Zusagen bis zum letzten Moment hingehalten(man könnte ja etwas Besseres finden) oder es werden neue höhere Gagenangebote erwartet. 

Man kann so weder planen noch werben. Wir haben so gestern beschlossen, einen Schnitt zu machen und haben uns von einigen Headliner Angeboten zurück gezogen, die wir eigentlich gestern ankündigen wollten. 

Matte arbeitet weiter und ich hoffe, wir können über Ostern noch einige Bands ankündigen. Seid uns bitte nicht böse und bleibt uns treu.

Wir versprechen, wie jedes Jahr, ein super Festival mit super Bands zu organisieren und hoffen auf euer Verständnis und Vertrauen.

Dear friends,
Shortly before the Easter weekend, I want to share something with you. Maybe you’ve already been wondering, why we’ve promised to confirm more bands, without a result so far. I had a long conversation with our booker and had to stop the band confirmations, yesterday.
During the last weeks, it’s been hard for me to stay in a good mood and keep up the energy required for the preparation of the festival. I’m already used to issues with the preparation, due to new laws, regulations, orders etc. concerning the execution of events. As we’re maintaining a good connection with the local departments, we’re able to solve these most of the time.
However, it’s getting harder and harder to stay within a feasible financial frame, which is funded by the entry fees. I don’t want to start again about everything getting more expensive, but I’m asking myself, when the time has come that it’s just too much and not possible anymore for organizer and guests to enjoy a festival, but instead to feel cheated.
Every year we try to create a festival that you enjoy to remember and talk about the good organization. It really meant a lot to our crew, that we’ve been voted the best festival in 2015 by the readers of the Visions magazine. Again, thank you so much for this!
This really encourages us in our work and makes us want to continue for many more years!
However, our biggest problems nowadays are related to the band booking, although the bands themselves probably don’t realize. In this business, we’re working with agents and managers, who show no interest at all in the festival or the whole scene. It’s just about maximizing the profit. I can’t say that this is a surprise, after 16 years in this business, but at the same time, I will not tolerate every shitty behavior or pay any absurd salary. Our booker gets band confirmations, which are then delayed until the very last moment to check if some better gig comes up or to demand higher salaries, when it looks like we have no choice anymore.
With situations like this we’re neither able to plan, nor to advertise our festival. Hence, we have decided to do a cut and cancelled our offers for some headliners, which we were planning to announce yesterday.
Our booker Matte is continuing his work and I hope that we will anyway be able to announce some bands during the Easter weekend.
I sincerely hope that you understand this situation and remain loyal to us. As every year, we promise to have a great festival with great bands, built on your trust and understanding.
